Regional hospital of Villach (LKH Villach)

The regional hospital of Villach is one of five regional hospitals in Carinthia. It is one of the most modern and professional public hospitals in Austria. The regional hospital of Villach has 11 departments and 4 institutes. With more than 860 beds and about 1500 employees it is the second biggest hospital in the region. The regional hospital of Villach has been accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as the first Austrian acute hospital meeting its standards and its institute for medical laboratory diagnostics has been accredited as the first European medical laboratory under the standards of JCI. Due to its high standards and its strategic position in the Alps-Adria region the hospital of Villach has been assigned to conduct the interregional, international and EU-wide projects and cooperations in the field of health care by the region of Carinthia. The hospital of Villach is also the seat of the Sanicademia -International Academy for Health Professionals EEIG founded by the three regional governments of Carinthia, Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. As already mentioned the hospital of Villach is accredited by the Joint Commission International, one part of this accreditation is focused on measures of quality management regarding the area of point-of-care in hospitals, meaning that the staff in the departments is extraordinarily well trained and that there are persons in charge regarding point-of-care in each department. Through the accreditation of the institute for medical laboratory diagnosis and the close collaboration with the institute for pathology and the departments, the regional hospital of Villach can provide the highest quality standards in the area of point-of-care.

According to the hospital’s description, LKH Villach will be one of the main responsible partners for the validation of the platform, the pilot studies and the evaluation. The main role of LKH Villach is the provision of GPs and data input for the diagnostic LOC. LKH Villach will provide Autoimmune Disease data and GPs.
