The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING)

CING was established in 1991 as a private academic center with a scope to provide advanced services in the area of Neurology and Genetics to Cyprus citizens irrespective of ethnicity and religion.

Vision of CING is to become the National Center of Excellence and the Regional Referral Center for research, education and the provision of services in the areas of Neurology and Genetics.

For the achievement of its mission the CING has established departments in the following areas: Clinical Neurology & Neurosciences, Clinical Genetics, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Virology, Forensic Genetics,  Biology and Biomedicine, Biochemical Genetics, Cytogenetics, Molecular Functioning & Treatment, Developmental Biology, Electron Microscopy/Molecular pathology.

In addition, CING has collaborations with significant academic centres abroad for the completion of research and postgraduate educational programs. CING has privately-owned building installations to the extent of 10,000m² and laboratory and clinical equipment. The personnel of CING comprises of about 130 individuals, 40 of which are holders of MD and PhD titles in the fields of neurology, genetics and relevant sciences.

According to the description of the organization, CING’s role in the project refers to the pilot studies and the evaluation of the product. CING will do the validation of the genomic diagnosis using HLA class genes and provide support for the pilot studies and possible clinical evaluation.
